Super Computer with Power 860 Gigaflop


Scientists in Iran claims to have built the fastest supercomputer in the country. Super computers are reported using AMD Opteron processor 216. Whereas AMD never endorse any product delivery related to the Iran embargo electronic devices the Americans against Iran. Scientists from the Iranian High Performance Computing Research Center said they use Linux cluster architecture. Super computer has a peak performance of 860 gigaflop. One gigaflop equals 1 billion calculations per second. In comparison, the fastest supercomputer in the world is BlueGene / L System which is owned by IBM and the U.S. Department of Energy. The computer has a peak performance of 478.2 teraflop. One teraflop equals 1 trillion calculations per second. The Iranians will use their own supercomputer for weather forecasting, Meteorology, oil and gas industry, manufacturing of drugs, industrial aerodynamics, and research purposes.
